KAUFMANN, Theodore (1814-?)

KAUFMANN, Theodore (1814-?), born in Nelson, near Hanover, studied painting in Hamburg and Munich.  After having participated in the Revolution of 1848 he went to America in 1850.  Served in the Civil War.  Worked in New York City where Thomas Nast was his pupil and later settled in Boston.
