KAHN, Otto Hermann (1867-1934).
German-American banker and philanthropist, b. Mannheim, Germany. To U.S. (1893, naturalized 1917). Partner in banking firm of Kuhn, Loeb & Co., New York (from 1897). Main stockholder (from 1908), chairman (1911-18), president (1918-31), Metropolitan Opera Company, New York; contributed generously to many cultural and educational institutions, perhaps greatest patron of arts in U.S. history. |
