HEINZ, Henry John (1844-1919).
American businessman, b. Pittsburgh. With brother and cousin, founded firm F. & J. Heinz to make and sell pickles and other prepared foods (1876); firm reorganized as H.J. Heinz Co. (1888); incorporated (1905); president of company (1905-19). Introduced advertising slogan "57 Varieties"(1896). |
